Spring 2012, Marking Period #3
March 26, 2012

I think that for this marking period, I put a lot of effort into creating more art because I became aware of the fact that I am a very slow worker. However, things did not exactly go according to plan because of a few unforeseen hurdles during my art-creating process.  I’m disappointed in myself for not being able to be as prolific as I had anticipated, but I am relatively satisfied with what I’ve created thus far, so I guess it all worked out.

Overall speaking, I think I am the happiest and most satisfied about the idea of my current series of pieces.  I’m creating art about something that I sincerely care about and am genuinely passionate for.

This marking period, I also did an exceptional job with attendance, considering the fact that I was tardy almost every day in the first semester.  And I also did a much better job of staying on task every day.

I learned that I will never be completely satisfied with my artwork.  Not to be a narcissist, but I think that artists in general have a tendency to get tired of looking at their own work and constantly having to evaluate it and make improvements.  Because of this reason, I think that at the end of the art-making process, trying to hard to make something perfect can take away from the piece.

Holistically speaking, I think I deserve an A for this marking period when everything is taken into consideration – participation, punctuality, personal learning and self-discovery.

Fall 2011, Marking Period #1
November 4, 2011

This marking period was fairly tough, having to get back into the swing of things in the new school year.  It took me a bit of time to get used to working self-sufficiently, especially with the whole aspect that entails me to create my own project proposals and deadlines.   The responsibility and accountability of my own self were tested throughout this marking period because there were times when I felt that it was tough not having someone tell me exactly what to do in class.

I learned that I need to adopt a better, more efficient way of completing my projects, whether that means I have to take my projects home or simply work at a faster pace.  Although time was clearly an issue for me, taking into consideration, I think my performance was commendable.  I tackled a difficult project that required a lot of patience on my part because of the small detailing in the painting, but I think I achieved what I set out to do.

In the areas of participation and punctuality, I would like to think that I did above average.  I was on task everyday, whether it was working on my project, keeping up-to-date with our written assignments on the wordpress, or researching for some inspiration.  There were a few days in this marking period when I arrived a minute late to class, but considering that this is first period and I have serious issues with staying awake during any time of the school day, I put a considerable amount of effort into being a present, punctual student.

Holistically speaking, I think that for this marking period I deserve an A, for awesome student.  Clearly, I could have done better in some areas, but there is never nothing that needs improvement.
